A striking vintage Persian runner, handwoven with bold hexagonal medallions in deep madder red, indigo, and ivory. This tribal piece carries the strength of geometric design balanced with the softness of hand-dyed wool. Large-scale motifs like these were woven to protect and ground the household, a design tradition passed down through generations.
Hamadan rugs come from one of the oldest cities in western Iran, a long-standing hub of Persian weaving. Many feature the Herati motif — a diamond or rosette framed with leaves and fish, symbolizing water, life, and prosperity. Durable and richly patterned, Hamadan rugs embody the strength and tradition of everyday Persian craftsmanship.

I highly recommend getting a rug pad to lengthen your rug's life. To maintain your rug, clean it using a vacuum without a beater bar on a weekly basis:

  • Vacuum the rug on top, then flip it over and vacuum the underside to loosen the dirt and push it toward the floor.

  • Do not use a steam cleaner or harsh chemicals as both can damage the wool fibres in the rug.

  • In case of spills, address them immediately and do not let the stains set. Spot clean the stain with warm water, vinegar, and a few drops of clear dish soap. Be sure to blot and never rub, as that can damage the fibres and make the stain penetrate even deeper.
