A supple wool-on-wool piece filled with tiny birds and garden symbols that bring life to its prayer-niche layout. The red field steps upward through a chain of blue medallions, a rhythm often seen in family dowry rugs meant to bless the home.

It’s a special one — the kind that bridges devotional symbolism and the weaver’s own world. Pieces like this usually weren’t made for export; they were woven for home use or as part of a dowry, which gives them that distinct, uncommercial warmth.
Woven by nomadic tribes in the Fars region of southern Iran, Qashqai rugs are known for their supple wool, vivid natural dyes, and dense fields of geometric and animal motifs. Each piece carries a sense of movement and storytelling — birds, rosettes, and stars arranged in spontaneous rhythm. Though rooted in tribal life, their craftsmanship rivals that of settled village weavers, giving Qashqai rugs a rare mix of warmth and precision.

I highly recommend getting a rug pad to lengthen your rug's life. To maintain your rug, clean it using a vacuum without a beater bar on a weekly basis:

  • Vacuum the rug on top, then flip it over and vacuum the underside to loosen the dirt and push it toward the floor.

  • Do not use a steam cleaner or harsh chemicals as both can damage the wool fibres in the rug.

  • In case of spills, address them immediately and do not let the stains set. Spot clean the stain with warm water, vinegar, and a few drops of clear dish soap. Be sure to blot and never rub, as that can damage the fibres and make the stain penetrate even deeper.
